In recent years, the young Tyrolean Andrè Schuen has emerged as one of the most compelling lieder singers of his generation. There is no secret, or perhaps there is: a beautiful lyric baritone voice, refined technique, extraordinary musical sensitivity and natural stage presence, qualities that raise each performance to levels of emotion and artistry “equal to any legend of the past or present,” according to critics. Specialising in German Romantic Lied, Schuen returns to Les Arts for the third time and, after hypnotising audiences with Brahms and Mahler, presents a programme entirely devoted to Schubert, the absolute cornerstone of his repertoire, as confirmed by the acclaim and awards received for his performances and recordings of emblematic cycles such as Die schöne Müllerin, Schwanengesang, and Winterreise.
