SEASON 2026—2027
Les Arts in Madrid
The Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana (OCV) will appear in Madrid under the auspices of the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (CNDM), with three concerts conducted by three distinguished maestros: Thomas Hengelbrock, Mikko Franck and Mark Elder.
Hengelbrock will conduct a programme centred on German Romanticism, featuring works by Brahms and Schumann, with Christian Tetzlaff, one of the most highly regarded soloists in this repertoire, performing Brahms’s Violin Concerto. Schumann’s Symphony No. 2 will also be performed, a work in which the German composer refers, through quotations, to Bach and Beethoven.
For his part, Mikko Franck will make his debut with the OCV in February 2027, with a programme that includes Chausson’s Poème de l’amour et de la mer, performed by the American tenor Michael Spyres, and two works by Debussy, Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune and La mer, masterpieces of the French symphonic repertoire.
Finally, Sir Mark Elder will devote his concert to three essential composers of the Russian and Soviet repertoire: Stravinsky, Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky.
