The building and how to get there
Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía
The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía is a majestic building designed by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava.
It is one of the most emblematic buildings in the city of Valencia and an important centre for the performing arts. The various spaces that make up this cultural complex have hosted a wide range of operatic productions, symphonic concerts, and ballets.
Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias
It was inaugurated in 2005, thereby completing the artistic component of the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. It features the most modern technologies, reflecting the image of a cutting-edge, contemporary venue.
Architecture
The innovative architecture of this building—over 40,000 m2 in area and 75 m in height—houses four performance spaces for opera, music, ballet, and theatre.
This work by Santiago Calatrava comprises a metal structure in the shape of a feather, springing from a reinforced-concrete pylon located on the access footbridge.

A masterful example of Santiago Calatrava’s architecture. The Palau is surrounded by over 60,000 m2 of gardens and 11,000 m2 of reflecting pools with surrounding walkways.
