Enoa

enoa

Les Arts has joined enoa, a European network of opera academies that supports artists in the operatic sector as they develop their careers. After 10 years of collaboration, the network is committed to a more inclusive future for opera in Europe, with an expanded repertoire that embraces innovative and contemporary works.

With the backing of the Europa Creativa programme, enoa renews its commitment to artistic creation and launches its new programme, EMPOWERING OPERA: BREAKING BOUNDARIES FOR INSTITUTIONS AND ARTISTS. The aim is to promote innovative operatic projects, support new social narratives, and remove artistic and financial barriers and prejudices, enabling new forms of expression across every aspect of opera—from artist training to production and programming.

Programme objectives

Training and integration

Theoretical and practical workshops for creative artists and performers.

Tailored residencies

For artists with no experience in the sector and those coming from other disciplines (jazz, theatre, dance, poetry, visual arts...).

Innovative projects

Incorporating new narratives created by teams selected at the European level.

Training in equality and diversity

Transforming creation, programming, selection, and communication practices in the sector.

Commissioning and production policy

Promoting mobility and diversity among artists and opera houses.

enoa impact

Today, enoa has 12 members and 9 associate members, including some of Europe’s leading operatic institutions. Founded in 2009, its early years (2011–2015) enabled the creation of artistic and professional-development workshops led by its members. The Young Opera Makers programme (2016–2020) was a key step, offering members new pathways to professional integration and creative processes at the European scale.

Between 2009 and 2019, enoa supported more than 1,500 artists and launched European tours with 17 operatic productions, 12 of them world premieres.
