Orchestra de la Comunitat Valenciana

Since its foundation in 2006, it has established itself as one of Europe’s most prestigious orchestras, standing out for its excellence in opera and symphonic performance.

It was founded by Maestro Lorin Maazel, who laid the groundwork that defines the ensemble. During his tenure, the orchestra quickly achieved a high level of international recognition.

Since then, the orchestra has worked with prestigious conductors such as Omer Meir Wellber, Roberto Abbado, and Fabio Biondi.

Since 2021, it has been under the direction of James Gaffigan, who has continued to strengthen its international profile, working alongside figures such as Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, and Valery Gergiev. The orchestra has also collaborated with renowned soloists such as Plácido Domingo.

The OCV is known for performing a wide-ranging repertoire that includes the most emblematic symphonies by Beethoven, Mahler, and Stavinsky, as well as major operatic works by Verdi, Puccini, and Wager.

Throughout its history, the orchestra has taken part in international tours and festivals, appearing on the world’s most prestigious stages. This reflects a balance between tradition and innovation, with each performance showcasing its deep commitment to music and artistic excellence.
