American Michael Spyres is one of the most highly regarded singers on the opera scene. He has a privileged voice that seamlessly covers the entire tenor range, with a completely natural power and sound, as well as a distinctive baritone colour, which has led him to describe himself as a ‘baritenor’, a title he has given to one of his most successful albums of arias. Thanks to his extraordinary versatility, he has already performed over a hundred opera roles and concert repertoire, with a wide range of styles spanning from Baroque to his recent brilliant Wagnerian forays (Siegmund, Lohengrin, Tristan), with a special dedication to bel canto, French opera and Mozart, the composer with whom he made his debut at Les Arts in 2020, performing a “landmark” Mitridate conducted by Marc Minkowski.
