Symphony No. 6 in D major, Op. 60
Jean Sibelius 1865 – 1957
Symphony No. 5 in E flat major, Op. 82
Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana
Music performance has undergone an unprecedented revolution in our time under the drive of one of its greatest exponents, the British conductor Sir John Eliot Gardiner, founder of renowned ensembles, such as Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists or Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, with which he has revived the beautiful sound and stylistic authenticity of the Baroque, Classical and early Romantic repertoire. An undisputed figure of the historicist recovery, his repertoire has evolved towards Romanticism. Gardiner develops his projects mostly with his own ensembles, being very selective when conducting other orchestras as a guest, so it is an exceptional privilege for Les Arts to have his presence in this concert with the OCV.
