DIEGO “EL CIGALA” COMES BACK ON STAGE WITH HIS TOUR “15 AÑOS DE LÁGRIMAS”

In 2001 Bebo collaborated in the album of Diego. Those were years of joy with the bolero Amar y vivir and La fuente de Bebo.

But this collaboration was not enough for any of them as both felt the need to go deeper in their collaboration. Fernando Trueba is the partner they needed to make all their ideas, mixing voice and piano, become real.

Almost secretly, Cigala and Valdés started to work and before the end of the year they presented Lágrimas negras to the audience in the Gusman Theatre of Miami. Next day press defined the pianist as “an alive classic of the Cuban music” and the cantaor as the “Sinatra of the flamenco”.

In 2003, Lágrimas negras was no more an intimate and spontaneous project but an unstoppable boom that went beyond the borders of flamenco and Latin music to remain in the favourite discography of thousands of families in all the world. The excellent critics, the defence that both monsters made of the album in the live concerts and most of all, the word of mouth, made it possible to situate the album in the sales top lists during two years.

The Ondas award is the first of a huge list, among which the highlights are: Micrófono de Oro (The Golden Microphone), five Amigo awards, three Music awards and, specially, two Grammy and five nominations to the Latin Grammy. Before that, the critic of The New York Times, Ben Ratliff, had said that this album was the  Album of the Year 2003. A tour of the 15 anniversary of Lágrimas negras that you can not miss. Saturday 17 November the magic is back to the Palau de les Arts in Valencia with Diego “El Cigala”.
