GERALD FINLEY
BARÍTONOPiano Julius Drake
Lieder and songs by Robert Schumann,
Franz Schubert, Henri Duparc, Benjamin Britten,
Graham Peel, Ralph Vaughan Williams,
Ferenc Liszt, Charles Ives, Cole Porter
Recently critically acclaimed
for his “outstanding” Wolfram in Tannhäuser at London's
Covent Garden, Gerald Finley is making his Les Arts debut with a
select programme of Lied, a facet of his career for which he has
been compared to the current master of song, the German Christian
Gerhaher. And it’s no exaggeration. The voice of this Canadian
bass-baritone, a Grammy Award winner, is outstanding for its
refined dramatic touch and an amazing ability to communicate with
the public, in recital, in concert - as well as in opera, as
evidenced by his latest successes at the Salzburg Festival
(Falstaff) and the Berlin Staatsoper (The Flying
Dutchman).
