Premiered at the Seville Biennial in 2022 and recently acclaimed in London and Paris, La Leona is the result of an obsession: the most legendary guitar in history, La Leona, created by the nineteenth-century Almerían luthier Antonio de Torres and regarded as the model for the modern Spanish guitar. Dancer and choreographer Olga Pericet, winner of the 2018 National Dance Award, transforms herself into both animal and instrument, searching within this singular and poetic dialogue for the most ancestral origins of the flamenco body, through a perspective centred on the feminine. Through rondeñas, bamberas, fandangos and farrucas, the artist’s body enters into dialogue with the musicians and with the voice of singer Israel Moro in a journey shaped by myth and rebellion.
