Juerga
Triana
Suite de danzas
Dancer and choreographer Antonio Najarro, leading the company that bears his name, continues the revival of the ballets premiered in Paris by Antonia Mercé, La Argentina, a project in which Les Arts has been closely involved throughout. The celebrated dancer promoted Spanish dance by inviting Spanish composers and choreographers to premiere their works with the company Les Ballets Espagnols, which she herself founded in Paris in 1927. Following the privilege of previously seeing Sonatina by Ernesto Halffter and El Contrabandista by Óscar Esplá, this season brings a rediscovery of the choreographic works Juerga by Julián Bautista and Triana by Isaac Albéniz, performed from the pit by the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, alongside other works from La Argentina’s repertoire with music by Spanish composers of the period, such as Enrique Granados and Jacinto Guerrero.
