MIKKO FRANCK
This season at Les Arts welcomes among its new guest conductors the Finnish maestro Mikko Franck, an essential name on today’s musical scene. He collaborates with the world’s leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. A perfectionist conductor, it is his musical sensitivity, clarity of sound and ability to move audiences that distinguish him from other conductors of his generation. It is hardly surprising that at just twenty-seven years of age, the Finnish National Opera recognised his extraordinary talent and appointed him General Music Director. For the past ten seasons he has served as Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, enriching both its extensive discography and repertoire. He has a particular affinity for post-Romantic composers, the world of Sibelius and, above all, French music, especially Debussy and Ravel.
