Russian conductor Dima Slobodeniouk collaborates with the most prestigious ensembles: Gewandhaus, Concertgebouw, the Los Angeles, New York and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras and the Boston and Chicago Symphony Orchestras. In Spain, he was Principal Conductor of the Galician Symphony Orchestra for almost ten years. A resident of Finland since his teens, Scandinavian musicians are regulars at his concerts, especially Sibelius, whose Symphony No. 1 and The Swan of Tuonela he will perform. These are moving examples of the orchestral talent that the composer already displayed in his youth, transporting us to the fascinating Nordic landscapes and legends magically evoked by their unique sound. Between these two pieces, we will hear Elgar's superb Cello Concerto, his nostalgic testament, a favourite of such great soloists as Madrid's Pablo Ferrández, who is appearing at Les Arts for the first time.
