The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will begin selling season tickets at the box office next Monday, August 28, for the 2006-2007 season, which will run until September 5.
Following the first phase of telephone sales, in which all available opera season tickets were sold out, the Palau de les Arts is opening a new sales process with the aim of satisfying the maximum number of citizens' demands.
The ticket offices are located at the entrance to the Palau de les Arts by the south pond of L'Hemisfèric (City of Arts and Sciences Bus Station). Tickets will be sold continuously from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Due to high demand, the Palau de les Arts has created a new subscription series that includes eight premiere operas. These operas are La Bohème, Don Giovanni, Belle et la Bête, Cyrano de Bergerac, Simon Boccanegra, Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, and the zarzuela La Bruja.
This new subscription, Shift A without the opera Fidelio, is in addition to the Subscription Shifts already offered: Shift A Opera Premieres; Shift B Opera during the Week; Shift C Opera Weekend; Shift D Reduced Opera 1 with a predominance of Italian opera; Shift E Reduced Opera 2, with a predominance of German opera and Shift of Great Soloists.
A total of 700 season tickets will go on sale next Monday at the opera house box office, with a limit of two per person. In addition, following the guidelines of major opera houses, the Palau de les Arts will open a general ticket sales period on October 16 for those wishing to purchase individual tickets for its various performances.
A varied program for all audiences
The first season of the Palau de les Arts 2006-2007 covers all performing arts genres under the common denominator of artistic quality.
Opera occupies a substantial place in all its trends and movements. In this sense, Italian opera is represented by titles such as Puccini's La Bohème and Verdi's Simon Boccanegra; German opera by Beethoven's Fidelio and the first two parts of Wagner's Ring Cycle, Das Rheingold and Die Walküre; and French opera by Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortilèges.
The operatic program is completed with Don Giovanni by Mozart; the Spanish premiere of Cyrano de Bergerac by Francisco Alfano with Plácido Domingo; Belle et la Bête by Philip Glass and the zarzuela La Bruja by Ruperto Chapí from Alicante.
All performances of the operatic titles will have a single cast, which gives a high artistic level to the first season.
This operatic offering is complemented by symphonic concerts, chamber music, children's theater, jazz opera, ballet, recitals and jazz featuring names such as Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, Jesús López Cobos, Barbara Frittoli, Nacho Duato, Perico Sambeat, Els Comediants or Milos Forman, a renowned filmmaker who will present his first operatic production.
