Valencia (8-11-2011).- The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía has received, since the beginning of October, more than 2,200 reservations from international tour operators for the shows of the 2011-2012 Season.

Specialized agencies have focused their attention, in particular, on two of the proposals from the Valencian arts center for the month of April: Tosca and Thaïs .

The revival of Jean-Louis Grinda's production for the opera house once again features Oksana Dyka in the role of Floria Tosca and Marcelo Álvarez as Mario Cavaradossi. This time, Omer Meir Wellber and Plácido Domingo alternate conducting the Puccini classic. It also marks the first time Plácido Domingo has conducted opera in the Main Hall of the Calatrava building.

Maestro Domingo will also participate in the production of Thaïs , with which the Palau de les Arts joins the commemorations of the centenary of Jules Massenet's death. Domingo makes his debut in the role of Athanaël in this production, directed by Nicola Raab and conducted by Patrick Fournillier. This marks his second appearance as a baritone in Valencia, following his success as Oreste in Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride . His performance has generated interest beyond Europe, with requests coming from countries such as Japan and the United States.

Furthermore, Plácido Domingo's presence on the podium for the concert version of Massenet's Le Cid and for the evening he will conduct featuring works by Beethoven, Dvořák, and Falla is an excellent draw for international audiences. In just a few weeks, the Palau de les Arts has received over one hundred requests from the United States, the Netherlands, and Germany for these two performances.

50% German tourists

German audiences remain the most loyal to the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía's activities, accounting for over 50% of international bookings to date. The excellent critical reception in Germany of Valencia's productions of Wagner 's Der Ring des Nibelungen and Parsifal , Beethoven's Fidelio , and Puccini's Turandot , along with the numerous awards these productions have received in Germany, underscores the interest of specialized agencies.

Prestigious organizers of musical tours, such as the Valencian company Andantino, the German company Musicaèvita, the British company Martin Randall Travel, the Italian company Il Sipario Musicale, and the Swiss company Bichsel Musikreisen, have long included Valencia as a must-see stop on their international circuits. After Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Switzerland are the three countries with the highest demand for concert venues, to which we should add the growing interest from the significant community of Northern European citizens residing in the provinces of Alicante and Valencia.
