Plácido Domingo presided over the final of the auditions for the young woman to be promoted from the Center of Perfection that bears her name to the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, a process that is open to the general public for the first time.

The Madrid artist encapsulates the jury in which, for the first time, directors from other theaters appear, such as Joan Matabosch, artistic director of the Teatre Reial; or Umberto Fanni, general director of the Royal Opera House of Muscat (Oman), in addition to Davide Livermore in the double role of artistic director of Les Arts and of the Center Plácido Domingo and Enedina Lloris, member of the cloister of the Center Plácido Domingo.

A total of 34 singers opt for the 15 places that Les Arts offers in Guany. The selection process will begin on June 17 at the Center d'Arts, with three days of eliminatory auditions, to which more than 100 singers from 34 countries in America, Asia, Europe and Oceania will present. The 34 finalists participated this week in a training workshop with Davide Livermore to also evaluate three qualities, such as the attitude towards individual or team training.

The artists who pass the final will begin their second training at Les Arts next September 1. The course, which runs until July 2017, includes subjects such as vocal technique, interpretation, languages, body language, Alexander technique and psychology, along with master classes in singing, recital, baroque repertoire and prose.

In addition to Plácido Domingo, promoter and mentor of the Centre, and Davide Livermore, in his second role as artistic director, prominent professionals such as Fabio Biondi, Manuela Custer, Enedina Lloris and Franca Mattiuci form part of the faculty of professionals who will share knowledge and experience with the young artists.

Acomiadament of the seventy promoted

On the other hand, the students of the seventies promotion will pose at the end of the second activity at the Center Plácido Domingo demà dissabte, at 7:00 p.m., at the Teatre Martín i Soler, with a recital in which they will be accompanied by the prestigious repertoire pianist Roger Vignoles.

The program is formatted by works of the French composer, with authors such as Bizet, Chausson, Gounod, Hahn, Ibert, Poulenc, Ravel and Saint-Saëns.

Federica Alfano, Pablo Aranday, Elisa Barbero, Mariam Battistelli, Michael Borth, Federica di Trapani, Emmanuel Faraldo, Karen Gardeazabal, Tatiana Irizarry, Nozomi Kato, Fabian Lara, Alejandro López and Iuliia Safonova close an academic course in which the Center Plácido Domingo has consolidated itself as a fundamental pillar in the activities of Les Arts.

The young artists have starred in some of the most praised capitols of the last season, such as the discovery of the opera 'Silla', by Händel, with musical direction by Fabio Biondi, in a new production by Alessandra Premoli, or the Spanish premiere of the contemporary opera 'Café Kafka', by the Valencian Francisco Coll, with Christopher Franklin on the podium and a new performance by Alexander Herold.

The Center's singers have also brought together notable successes with the concert-spectacle 'What Are the Clouds', in homage to Mozart's anniversary, or the 'Concert de Bel Canto' which, under the baton of Gregory Kunde, will deplete the venues this March.

Així mateix, the presence has remained a constant in the distribution of muntatges and concerts of the Main Hall and the Auditori during the season of subscription.

Roger Vignoles is considered one of the most distinguished accompanying pianists on the international scene. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with singers such as: Elisabeth Söderström, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Sir Thomas Allen, Barbara Bonney, Kathleen Battle, Christine Brewer, Brigitte Fassbaender, Bernarda Fink, Susan Graham, Thomas Hampson, Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Dame Felicity Lott, Mark Padmore, John Mark Ainsley, Roderick Williams, Joan Rodgers, Sarah Walker, Measha Brueggergosman and Kate Royal.

He is a regular figure in the most notable auditoriums and concert sales of the world such as Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie de Colònia, Konzerthaus de Vienna, Musikverein de Vienna, Royal Concertgebouw, Musee d'Orsay, Carnegie Hall, Frick Collection in New York, La Scala de Milà, Frankfurt Opera, Théatre des Champs-Élysées, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Beethovenfest in Bonn or the Baden-Baden Festival.
