19.04.2017
The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will present from Friday, 21, to Monday, April 24, 'Homage to Antonio Ruiz Soler-The Three-Cornered Hat', by the National Ballet of Spain (BNE) in the Main Hall.
The arts center has kept its focus on ballet as a fundamental part of the programme, with a show that “brings together the richness and diversity of Spanish Dance”, as Davide Livermore has highlighted in the presentation today. Antonio Najarro, director of the BNE, and Álvaro Albiach, musical director, accompanied the mayor of Les Arts at the press conference.
Antonio Najarro has designed the tribute to the legendary ballarí that the National Ballet will premiere at the Teatre de la Zarzuela in Madrid on June 18, 2016, on the fifth anniversary of the death of which he is “one of the great figures of Spanish Dance.”
'Tribute to Antonio Ruiz Soler', as the director of the BNE has explained, “brings together a selection of choreographies, the majority belonging to the repertoire of the National Ballet, in which some of the styles of Spanish Dance will be represented through the brilliant creations of the great Antonio: 'Eritaña', with music by Isaac Albéniz; 'Zapateado' by Sarasate, 'Taranto' from the flamenc ballet 'La Taberna del Toro', 'Fantasía Galaica', with music by Ernesto Halffter and 'The Three-cornered Hat', by Manuel de Falla.”
In this sense, Antonio Najarro has highlighted “the special interest in recovering the original curtains and sets, as well as in reproducing in detail the decorations and costumes of the different choreographies, which are works of art that will always identify Antonio's creativity and performance on stage. "The disinterestedness of the artists linked to their career, who have contributed to providing us with valuable documentation to enhance this tribute."
The Valencian Álvaro Albiach, who will debut in 2014 with the Valencian Community Orchestra at the Castelló Auditorium, is presented for the first time in the Calatrava building with a score, 'The Three-cornered Hat', which Lorin Maazel has previously conducted during the inaugural concerts of 2005. In this way, The current head of the Orquestra d'Extremadura joins the list of Valencians who have conducted in the Main Hall: Jordi Bernàcer, Enrique García Asensio, Gustavo Gimeno, José Ramón Martín, Cristóbal Soler and Ramón Tebar.
Davide Livermore, who has valued the excellent support of the proposal “for which penises remain inside”, has also referred to the list of soloists who participate in the different fish: the Valencian mezzo-soprano Sandra Ferrández, the violinist Albert Skuratov and the pianist Cori Lechner.
