Valencia (May 29, 2020). The Palau de les Arts reopens its doors to the public from Friday, June 12, with a series of concerts and recitals in the Main Hall, adapting to the new general safety, prevention and hygiene measures.
The Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana (OCV), the singers and pianists of the Centre de Perfeccionament and the Cor de la Generalitat offer a total of eleven evening sessions that will begin next Friday, June 12, with an OCV concert reserved exclusively for the health community, in recognition of the work carried out during the coronavirus crisis.
Starting June 13th, Les Arts presents this series of concerts for all audiences, which will take place at 8:00 PM every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday until July 11th. The concerts, with tickets priced at a single rate of 5 euros, last one hour without intermission and will be sold with assigned seating to ensure social distancing and capacity limits are always in accordance with current regulations.
For ticket purchases, following the recommendations of the health authorities, Les Arts will prioritize online sales, which will be launched from the second week of June on the theater's website ( https://www.lesarts.com ).
With the aim of fostering a more diverse audience, three weekly sessions have been established, each dedicated to a specific group. Thursday concerts will have priority sales for Les Arts subscribers, while Fridays will be reserved exclusively for those under 29. Saturday performances will be open to the general public.
Adapted artistic activities
In order to meet safety requirements, the artistic direction has designed a selection of musical programs, adapted to the current situation, for small musical ensembles.
Both the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, in a chamber ensemble, and the Cor de la Generalitat, with a reduced staff, will maintain the distancing requirements on stage at all times.
The repertoire planned for these concerts includes, among other programs, one for string instruments, with pieces by Mozart, Dvořák, Barber and Tchaikovsky, as well as an evening dedicated exclusively to the wind section, with works by Donizetti, Gounod and Beethoven.
For their part, the singers from the Centre de Perfeccionament, accompanied by pianists José Miguel Román and Stanislav Angelov, will perform different programs with arias and romances from opera and zarzuela in their respective sessions.
