Valencia (16.02.25). The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will welcome two renowned names in flamenco singing next Friday, February 21st: Antonio Reyes and Jesús Méndez from Cádiz. They will perform at the Teatre Martín i Soler at 7:30 pm in the first performance of 2025 in the 'Les Arts és Flamenco' series.

Jesús Méndez belongs to one of Jerez's most important flamenco singing families, the Méndez dynasty, which also included the renowned 'Queen of Bulería,' the famous 'Paquera de Jerez.' Since his debut in 2002, he has taken his art to major stages and festivals, achieving significant international recognition from Asia to Europe, including Africa and the Americas.

A staunch defender of the flamenco styles of La Plazuela and closely associated with bulería and soleá, Jesús Méndez stands out for his maturity, progress, and brilliance in his performances. The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, he has collaborated with the most prominent figures in the genre.

Antonio Reyes is also a descendant of a long flamenco dynasty. Related to artists such as Antonio Montoya, Roque Montoya “Jarrito” and José Cortés Jiménez “Pansequito”, this Jerez native has inherited the tradition and love for cante jondo, becoming a leading figure in orthodox flamenco singing.

The artist from Chiclana, who first stepped onto a stage at just seven years old, is considered one of the most important flamenco singers of the moment. Praised for his feeling and passion in his singing and for his measured interpretation, which achieves a unique authenticity and naturalness in the genre, he has received the Antonio Mairena and Manolo Caracol awards from the National Flamenco Art Competition of Córdoba.

Jesús Méndez and Antonio Reyes will be accompanied in their performance at Les Arts by Nono Reyes on guitar and Diego Montoya and Tate Núñez on palmas (handclapping).

The next guest artists in the 'Les Arts és Flamenco' series will be El Pele (April 24) and Reyes Carrasco (May 23). Les Arts reminds patrons that tickets for this series can be purchased through the theater's various sales channels: box office, the sales line 96 197 59 00, and the Les Arts website.
