Valencia (27.02.23). The Palau de les Arts premieres this Dijous, March 2, 'Don Giovanni', by Mozart. Riccardo Minasi from the podium and Damiano Michieletto on stage culminate with this title the related 'Trilogia Da Ponte', which Les Arts will begin in 2019 (with 'Le nozze di Figaro' and which will continue in 2020 with 'Così fan tutte').

Riccardo Minasi and Eleonora Gravagnola, stage director of the revival, together with the baritone Davide Luciano, have accompanied Jesús Iglesias Noriega, artistic director of Les Arts, in the presentation of this opera, which will be performed at the end of next March 12 in the Main Hall.

Iglesias Noriega has recalled that Mozart forms one of the fundamental works in the programming of Les Arts, with an unavoidable presence every opera season and always among the most recognized experts in its repertoire.

Riccardo Minasi, chief conductor of the Mozarteum Orchester of Salzburg, returns to Les Arts after his sensational debut with the Valencian Community Orchestra with the concert 'From Italy' in 2021.

Consagrat Mozartià, also the musical director of the Teatre Carlo Felice in Genoa, is also the first artistic director of the Swiss Orchestra La Scintilla, which Nickolaus Harnoncourt will found and which is the resident ensemble of the Zuric Opera for the baroque and classical repertoires. Riccardo Minasi has also remained co-founder and director of the Il Pomo d'Oro ensemble from 2012 to 2015.

Eleonora Gravagnola is in charge of bringing to Valencia this production by Damiano Michieletto, which will have an excellent reception among the public and the press specialized in the new premiere at La Fenice in Venice and will be awarded the Premi Abbiati of the Italian critics for its unique scenery and costumes.

Scenically, Michieletto proposes a production faithful to the time in which he is writing the work and a psychological adaptation to delve into the complex relationships between the characters who turn to the will of Don Giovanni, who once they come into contact with both, cause seduïts by a malaltissa fascinación. When he is on stage, Don Giovanni dominates all the relationships that are established at the moment, and when he is not there, the other characters suffer guilt.

Paolo Fantin proposes a circular stage structure, in almost perpetual movement, in which he reproduces a decadent villa from the 'Settecento', with austere furniture and worn pastel-colored upholstery, dominated by long shadows and opaque lights that recreate the lighting designed by Fabio Barettin. Carla Teti is also inspired by the 18th century, with a sober and elegant wardrobe, in line with the aesthetic approach of the production.

Les Arts brings together a solid cast of young people and recognized performers with Davide Luciano in the lead role. Thanks to the recognition of the public and criticism of his work in the classical and bel canto repertoire, the Italian baritone has emerged as one of the reference venues in the world, in New York, Milan, Berlin and Moscow, among other places. This is the third performance at Les Arts, after his previous interventions in 'Costì fan tutte' (2020) and 'Fasltaff' (2021).

Ruth Iniesta debuts the role of Donna Anna in her fourth incursion into the Valencian opera house, having previously sung in 'Il viaggio a Reims' (2020), 'Pagliacci' and 'Doña Francisquita' (2021). The Saragossa soprano is considered one of the most promising Spanish performers after her debut at the Paris and Vienna operas.

Giovanni Sala, who will sing last season in 'Macbeth', is back to the Valencian public with the role of Don Ottavio. The young tenor, who had an intense career in the main Italian theaters, has worked, among others, with Riccardo Muti.

Elsa Dreisig is also returning, who is going to present Marc Minkowski's Les Arts de la mà and Les Musiciens du Louvre in 'Mitridate' in 2019. The French-Danish soprano is one of the new values of lyric in Europe, both working at operas in Berlin and Paris and at festivals such as Ais de Provença and Salzburg.

Riccardo Fassi plays Leporello. With a repertoire that includes Mozart, the 'bel canto' and Verdi, the baix italià is one of the names with the most projection in the current world, with a presence in the departments of Vienna, Paris, Milan, London and Berlin. His first appearance appeared in Les Arts amb Alidoro in 'La Cenerentola' (2020).

After her acclaimed debut in 'Ariodante' (2022), Jacquelyn Stucker will play the role of Zerlina in València. The emerging North American soprano, with both engagements in London and Berlin, will return to Les Arts in the maig to star in 'L'incoronazione di Poppea', after her excellent performance in Ais de Provença.

In the role of Masseto, Les Arts presents one of the operatic sensations of the moment, the bass-bariton Adolfo Corrado, who, unfortunately for his youth, has sung with teachers such as Daniel Oren, Zubin Mehta, Gianandrea Noseda, Renato Palumbo, Daniele Gatti and Stefano Montanari, with an agenda of both commitments and work in Milà, Zuric, Amsterdam, Venice or Salzburg.

Gianlucca Buratto, one of the great names on the international circuit, plays Il Commendatore. The Baix Italià is an artist frequently at Les Arts, where he has participated, among other operas, in 'Tosca', 'Thaïs', 'I due Foscari' and 'La bohème'.

In addition to the premiere of this said, March 2, Les Arts will perform 'Don Giovanni' on March 4, 7, 10 and 12. The performances of this opera are carried out by the collaboration of Turisme de la Comunitat Valenciana.

Mozart Marathon

In parallel to the performances of 'Don Giovanni', Les Arts has programmed the 'Mozart Marathon', a multidisciplinary project focused on celebrating the work and life of the Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791).

The 'Mozart Marathon' includes more than 30 cultural activities from February 27 to March 12. During these intense sets, the figure of the Geni of Salzburg and the seua transcendènce in Western culture will be the backbone of the proposals of 2023, with an agenda to Alacant, Castelló and Valencia with opera, concerts, recitals, conferences, col·loquis, workshops, family activities and cinematographic projections.
