Valencia (16.01.2024). The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía offers an entertaining look at the history of music for all audiences with 'Cal·líope', an educational show that combines music, theater and humor and will be performed at the Teatre Martín i Soler until the end of this month.
'Cal·líope' is a Les Arts original production, based on an idea by Jaume Policarpo, who also wrote the script and directed the show, with musical arrangements by Gonzalo Manglano. The one-hour performance, performed in Valencian, tells the story of the evolution of music from prehistory to the present day in an entertaining and accessible way, interweaving musical moments with dialogue and humorous gags.
Les Arts has scheduled performances as part of its educational program for primary school groups in grades 5 and 6, and for secondary school students whose curriculum includes music history. Additionally, the Teatre Martín i Soler will host four performances open to families on January 27 and 28, with shows at 12:00 and 17:00.
The cast of 'Cal·líope' is made up of sopranos Iria Goti and Elena Zamudio, tenor Thomas Viñals, baritone Alejandro Sánchez and actors Gonzalo Manglano and Arianne Algarra, who are accompanied musically by the ensemble made up of pianist Weronika Mackiewicz, flautist Alejandro Ortuño and cellist Gustavo Lapresta.
The musical repertoire of the work ranges from the first musical notes of primitive man to the latest avant-garde movements, without forgetting essential authors such as Monteverdi, Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Richard Strauss or Debussy, among others.
Tickets for the family performances of 'Cal·líope' are now available on the Les Arts website www.lesarts.com at a price between 12 and 15 euros.
