Valencia (18.6.26). Les Arts Volant launches this Friday, June 19, in Alginet, its tenth tour of the Valencian Community, in which, for the first time, it will bring a zarzuela show: Notes d'este estiu són, sarsueles en el camió , with music by José Serrano.

The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía hosted today's presentation of this new production, which was attended by Marta Alonso, Regional Secretary of Culture; Francisco Teruel, Deputy for Culture of the Provincial Council of Valencia; José Luis Moreno, Councillor for Culture of the City Council of Valencia; and Jesús Iglesias Noriega, Artistic Director of Les Arts.

After three consecutive editions with opera productions: Bastià i Bastiana , by Mozart; El tutor burlat , by Martín i Soler, and La Ventafocs , by Viardot, the truck-stage premieres a newly created show Notes d'este estiu són, sarsueles en el camió , of which a total of 25 performances will be offered during the months of June, July, September and October.

Enrique Viana has conceived the production in the style of the one-act lyrical farces of the early 20th century, in which Serrano's music is interspersed in the daily life of a Valencian-flavored town with humor, irony and enormous theatrical vitality.

As Viana explains, the idea arose from a desire to pay homage to the great Valencian zarzuela composers. Ultimately, he chose Serrano, whom he describes as an "excellent inventor of melodies" with "a special way of connecting with the public and popular culture," making him the ideal composer to create a show for summer evenings.

“ Notes d'este estiu són, sarsueles en el camió is a colorful and refreshing show, with very good singers and two magnificent dancers, built on short dialogues and scenes that weave the plot with slapstick humor, that humor that makes all ages laugh, although for different reasons, all intertwined with the numbers of the maestro Serrano,” Viana points out.

Viana is responsible for the original idea, the dramaturgy, the stage direction and the costumes of the production, with set design by Daniel Bianco and choreography by Cristina Arias.

The aim of Les Arts Volant is to bring opera to places with little musical activity or where staging a performance would be difficult due to a lack of resources. The project, which premieres its fourth mobile production this year, is the result of a collaboration between the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities; the Culture Department of the Provincial Council of Valencia; and the Department of Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources of the Valencia City Council.

The regional secretary for Culture, Marta Alonso, has emphasized the regional dimension of Les Arts in this project to promote opera beyond its immediate area: “High culture cannot be confined solely to large cities; it is necessary for public media to create the conditions to guarantee access to cultural excellence, and the Les Arts Volant truck is a fundamental tool for this purpose.”

In this regard, Marta Alonso also celebrated the "reclaiming of a universal Valencian like Maestro Serrano who, thanks to a lighthearted and hilarious staging, will allow the dissemination and enjoyment of the work of one of the most important composers of the Valencian Community."

For his part, the Deputy for Culture, Francisco Teruel, recalled: “With Les Arts Volant , the Provincial Council reaches, in each edition, many towns that connect the province, revitalizing and decentralizing the culture produced here, in our community, and also stimulating the interest of new audiences of all ages who enjoy the show.”

“This new edition is presented with a major tour through 14 towns in the province of Valencia, two more than last year. And to speak of Les Arts Volant, with the motto 'Les Arts is for everyone,' is to speak of culture, of music, and of a recognized success wherever it goes, turning each performance into an unforgettable experience and captivating all audiences with an artistic offering that leaves a lasting impression,” he noted.

The Councillor for Culture of the City of Valencia, José Luis Moreno, has celebrated Les Arts Volant bringing its tour to a close in the city's neighborhoods, as part of the Cultura als barris campaign: “Artistic excellence and proximity can go hand in hand; we want no resident to have to leave their neighborhood to enjoy a top-level show.”

Moreno also highlighted the revival of maestro José Serrano and the popular nature of the genre: “Zarzuela is a living heritage that connects with the feelings of our land and moves all ages; there are few better ways to pay tribute to one of our masters than to bring his music back to the streets and to the people.”
