The first concert in the Les Arts és Barroc series, L’universo sulla pelle, is a fascinating journey through early Baroque Italy, revealing previously unpublished music by Frescobaldi, Landi, Kapsberger, Sances, and the renowned composer Barbara Strozzi. Valencian soprano Èlia Casanova and the early music ensemble La Tendresa—founded by her in 2015—are the driving force behind this musicological rediscovery, which earned them the 2019 Carles Santos Award for best recording. Together with soprano Quiteria Muñoz, they perform at Les Arts a rich selection of arias, madrigals, and cantatas for one and two voices, all celebrating love and its various emotional states.
