LA RITIRATA
Il giardino di rose
Oratorio for five voices and instruments by Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725)
Josetxu Obregón, conductor
The first concert of Les Arts is Baroque stars Alessandro Scarlatti and his oratorio for five voices Il giardino di rose, considered by musicologists to be one of the author's best works. Premiered in Rome in 1707, at that time it was already considered modern music, due to its extraordinary beauty, expressiveness and innovative style. The cellist and director from Bilbao, Josetxu Obregón, and the La Ritirata ensemble, founded by him and specialised in the historical interpretation of the Baroque, will rediscover this jewel of the sacred repertoire for us, led by an expert vocal cast that includes the Catalan soprano Núria Rial.
A coproduction with CNDM.
