Valencia (22.4.26). The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía brings the programming of its series Les Arts és Baroc i Música Antiga to the Church of San Nicolás this Thursday, April 23 (7:30 p.m.), with the recital Il pianto della Madonna , starring the soprano María Espada and the plucked string performer Manuel Minguillón.

The Church of San Nicolás, considered one of the city's architectural landmarks and known as the "Valencian Sistine Chapel" for the richness of its frescoes, hosts for the second time a recital of this cycle, carried out in collaboration with the National Center for Musical Diffusion (CNDM) for the recovery and dissemination of the historical repertoire.

María Espada and Manuel Minguillón present a program focused on the Italian Baroque, with works by Claudio Monteverdi, Tarquinio Merula, Barbara Strozzi, Giulio Caccini, Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger, and Alessandro Grandi. The repertoire includes pieces such as Il pianto della Madonna , one of Monteverdi's most expressive works, along with other compositions that explore the relationship between music, text, and emotion in the early Baroque.

Renowned for her international career, María Espada has performed in some of Europe's leading concert halls, collaborating with prominent conductors and specialized ensembles. Manuel Minguillón, for his part, is a leading performer on historical plucked string instruments, with a distinguished career both as a soloist and in collaboration with international ensembles.

Following this recital, Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga will continue with new proposals including performances by Il Fervore with soprano Jone Martínez, on April 30, and mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik with Les Épopées, on May 28, at the Teatre Martín i Soler.

Les Arts reminds you that tickets for the concerts and recitals of Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga are available through the theater's various sales channels: box offices, telephone sales line 96 197 59 00 and the official Les Arts website.
