The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía begins the programming of its cycle Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga next Thursday, April 9, with a program dedicated to the most celebrated pages of Händel, Rameau and Vivaldi, by the soprano Serena Sáenz and the Vespres d'Arnadí ensemble at the Teatre Martín i Soler.

Serena Sáenz returns to Les Arts after her sensational Pamina in Simon McBurney's spectacular production of The Magic Flute , which broke occupancy records in 2024. The Barcelona-born soprano, one of Spain's most internationally renowned singers, reunites in Valencia with the Catalan historical performance ensemble and its founder and director, the harpsichordist Dani Espasa, with a luminous repertoire dedicated to 18th-century European musical theater.

The concert program includes arias of incomparable beauty such as “Sposa son disprezzata” (from Bajazet , by Vivaldi) or “Tornami a vagheggiar”, one of the most famous pieces from Alcina , by Handel, as well as pieces such as the Suite from Les Indes Galantes , the exquisite opera-ballet by Rameau, which contains the most brilliant orchestral pieces of the French Baroque.

Produced in collaboration with the National Center for Musical Diffusion (CNDM), the Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga cycle offers a broad overview with the most outstanding artists and groups on the circuit.

In addition to Serena Sáenz and Vespres d'Arnadí, the fifth edition of the cycle includes a performance by soprano María Espada, accompanied by Manuel Minguillón on the archlute, in the incomparable setting of the Church of San Nicolás on April 23; a monographic program dedicated to Alessandro Scarlatti with the ensemble Il Fervore and soprano Jone Martínez on April 30 at the Teatre Martín i Soler; and the closing performance by the renowned ensemble Les Épopées and mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik on May 30.
