Valencia (2.3.26). The Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana (OCV) and cellist Pablo Ferrández will perform at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía on Thursday, March 5, and at the Auditori de Castelló on the 6th of this month, under the direction of Dima Slobodeniouk with a program that includes Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto , one of the most moving works in the repertoire, which has one of its most celebrated interpreters in the Spanish cellist.

Pablo Ferrández, “the new genius of the cello,” gives his first concert with the OCV with this masterpiece, still new to the orchestra's repertoire. Also making his debut with LesArts' resident ensemble is Dima Slobodeniouk, one of the most prominent conductors on the international circuit.

The Finnish conductor, a recurring name in the best orchestras on the international circuit, such as the Berlin, Los Angeles and New York Philharmonic Orchestras, the Boston and Chicago Symphony Orchestras or the Concertgebouw, proposes a program that also includes one of his favorite composers, Jean Sibelius, a true national symbol of Finland, with his exuberant First Symphony and the elegiac The Swan of Tuonela .

Elgar's Cello Concerto stands out as one of the masterpieces for this instrument. Composed in the aftermath of the First World War, its introspective nature and melancholic beauty made it an essential work in the repertoire of the most brilliant cellists, and it became an icon for the legendary Jacqueline du Pré after her iconic recording in the 1960s.

Hailed as a “new cello genius,” hailed as “the new Yo-Yo Ma,” and described by Anne-Sophie Mutter herself as “truly special…great sound, refined vibrato, perfect technique, and an authentic musician,” Madrid native Pablo Ferrández is one of the most sought-after musicians of his generation. His emotional intensity and exquisite technique in performing Elgar’s Cello Concerto have garnered unanimous acclaim from audiences and critics alike in major concert halls and auditoriums.

Les Arts reminds everyone that tickets for the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana concert with Pablo Ferrández, conducted by Dima Slobodeniouk, can be purchased through the theater's various sales channels: box office, the sales line 96 197 59 00 and
