The Minister of Culture, Alejandro Font de Mora, has announced that “the orchestra of the Palau de les Arts will be called, from now on, the Orchestra of the Valencian Community, since what we want is a more cordial and simplified identification of its name, also, at an external level of our territory this name allows us to have an image projection that benefits the entire Valencian Community.”
The regional minister pointed out that “the name ‘Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana’ perfectly reflects the philosophy of this musical ensemble.” This name was decided by a resolution of the regional government, as Font de Mora explained.
“This orchestra probably represents one of the greatest cultural endeavors of recent decades, and our aim is for the entire Valencian Community to enjoy it and for it to allow us to project an image abroad, attracting the interest of enthusiasts from other countries to cultural events, not only musical but also those encompassing the other arts,” stated the Minister of Culture. The Valencian Community Orchestra, in its inaugural season, comprises 91 musicians from 25 different countries. Of the 17 Spanish musicians, 12 are from Valencia. In addition, there will be 29 extra musicians, 27 of whom are from the Valencian Community, to meet the various needs of the season.
