The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía has gathered nearly 2,000 people on the first day of general ticket sales for the seven performances of the opening opera of the second season, Carmen.
Since Sunday afternoon, those interested have been going to the coliseum's box office to get one of the 300 tickets that, as already announced, were being distributed today at 9:00 a.m. to be able to buy tickets for this version of Bizet's classic, which features musical direction by Lorin Maazel and stage direction by Carlos Saura.

The public response has exceeded the auditorium's expectations, with all 300 tickets selling out in just minutes. The Palau de les Arts has put a total of 2,500 tickets on sale for Carmen, which is undoubtedly the production that has generated the most interest among theatergoers since the opera house opened.

Once again, the magnificent response of the Valencian public to the programming and artistic activities of the Palau de les Arts is confirmed, as happened last season, where most shows reached full capacity.

The Palau de les Arts has already successfully completed its season ticket renewal campaign, selling out all new season tickets put on sale last September.

The coliseum informs that on Wednesday, October 31, a second phase of free ticket sales at the box office for Carmen will begin, in addition to the 5 percent of the hall's capacity, reserved by law for sale at the box office on the same day of each performance.

Carmen, which will premiere on November 6, will also be performed on November 7, 9, 11, 13, 14 and 18 in the Main Hall of the coliseum.

Expansion of the discount policy

For the 2007-2008 season, the opera house has expanded its discount policy for specific groups. Specifically, for the opera Carmen, groups such as young people and students under 30 with valid ID; senior citizens, retirees, and pensioners; and people with disabilities with a recognized disability rating of 33% or higher, will be able to benefit from a 35% discount on seats in Zone 5 of the Main Hall.

In addition, the coliseum maintains the "Last Minute" discount of 50% for all audiences and for any seat in the Main Hall, two hours before the start of each performance for sale at the box office.

Those interested can find all the available information about ticket sales on the coliseum's website: www.lesarts.com.

General sale for the rest of the productions

Furthermore, general ticket sales for the rest of the season's productions will begin on November 26: Don Carlo, La Belle et la bête, Esponsales en el monasterio, Orlando, Le nozze di Figaro, and Madama Butterfly, as well as its symphonic concert program and Aula Magistral series. The Palau de les Arts will soon provide interested parties with complete information regarding this process.
