Valencia (11.4.23). The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía proposes, starting on April 14, three weeks of educational and family activities within 'Verdi Marathon', a multidisciplinary project focused on celebrating the life and work of the composer from Busseto, the main protagonist of this month's program with the premiere of a new production of his opera 'Un ballo in maschera'.

The preeminence of Giuseppe Verdi in the lyric genre and his historical influence form the backbone of the 28 proposals of Les Arts; a cultural agenda with coverage in the three provinces of the Valencian Community that includes opera, concerts, recitals, colloquiums, educational and inclusive workshops, family activities and audiovisual projections.

In addition to the artists from the Centre de Perfeccionament de Les Arts, the musical program will be enriched by the participation of other artistic assets such as the students of the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo, the Joaquín Rodrigo Higher Conservatory of Music, and the professional music conservatories of Valencia and Requena, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Valencia (OFUV) and the pianists Carlos Apellániz, Jorge Balanzà, Claudio Carbó and Rubén Sáez.

The diverse musical programs will encompass the immense work of the brilliant Italian composer, with special attention to his chamber music, voice, and piano. Les Arts and its various halls will share the venue for the 'Verdi Marathon' with locations across the three provinces: the IVAM, La Nau, La Beneficència, the Picassent Penitentiary Center, the Universitat Jaume I of Castelló, the Santa María Church of Requena, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos of Valencia, and the Teatro Principal of Monóvar.

The musical program will be complemented by an interesting educational activity with regular proposals from Les Arts, such as 'Perspectives', the talk-colloquium proposed by Amics de l'Òpera i de les Arts de la Comunitat Valenciana with the protagonists of 'Un ballo in maschera' (April 19), or new actions such as the free screening in the Aula Magistral of the series 'La vida de Verdi' (from April 22 to 24).

Giuseppe Verdi will be the focus of the themes and content of the proposals that are part of the educational program of Les Arts during the next few days, which include the usual workshops 'Opera in construction' and 'A morning with…'.

Another new feature of this edition is the innovative initiative in collaboration with ENOA, the European Network of Opera Academies, 'Dramaturgy in Verdi's Operas' (May 2-4). The prestigious director Johannes Erath, who achieved resounding success at Les Arts with his acclaimed production of 'Les contes d'Hoffmann', will lead this workshop for aspiring stage directors.

The live stream of the opera 'Un ballo in maschera' on May 5th will close the Verdi Marathon. Les Arts will offer the opera's signal free of charge to municipalities and musical associations in the Valencian Community that wish to participate in this initiative.

Leading figures of the Verdi repertoire make up the cast of this opera, with Francesco Meli, Anna Pirozzi, Franco Vasallo, Agnieszka Rehlis, and Marina Monzó, under the musical direction of Antonino Fogliani. Stage director Rafael R. Villalobos, one of the rising stars of the international scene, is behind the production, which Les Arts is co-producing with the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin.
