The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía has sold out all tickets for its first Open House Day, which will take place on October 11. A total of 4,698 people have claimed their free tickets for the guided tours and concerts that will be held that day.
The celebration of this first Open Day is part of the Palau de les Arts' objective to open the building and its architecture to the people of Valencia, as well as to promote interest in opera and classical music.

The public will be able to tour different areas of the building and learn about its architecture, as well as enjoy free concerts performed by professors from the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and the Jove Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana.

The Mayor and Artistic Director, Helga Schmidt, highlighted, “the magnificent response of the Valencian people to this first initiative to open the doors of this emblematic building, which sold out in just one day.”

Schmidt added that, "given the high level of interest, we will repeat this initiative in the future to give the maximum number of interested people the opportunity to enjoy this festive day."

From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, guided tours will be offered through the most significant spaces and halls of the avant-garde Palau de les Arts building. Simultaneously, from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, concerts and musical performances will take place in the Aula Magistral and the Auditori, featuring a symphonic journey through works by universal, Spanish, and Valencian composers, including Mozart, Rossini, Brahms, Schubert, Boccherini, Dvořák, Weill, Cristóbal Halffter, Tomás Marco, and Manuel Palau, among others.

An exceptional opportunity to listen live to the talented musicians of the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, the resident orchestra of the Palau de les Arts.

Filmmaker Werner Herzog has already begun rehearsals for Parsifal, the opening opera of the 2008-2009 season, in the Main Hall of the Palau de les Arts. General ticket sales for this new production and for all performances begin on October 14.
Parsifal, “Richard Wagner’s sacred stage festival,” will premiere on October 25th and will be conducted by Lorin Maazel, with renowned filmmaker Werner Herzog directing the production. The German director is the creator of such celebrated films as Fitzcarraldo and Aguirre, the Wrath of God.

Parsifal features a vocal cast that includes top names from the international scene such as Christopher Ventris, Violeta Urmana, Sergei Leiferkus, Alexander Tsymbalyuk, Evgeny Nikitin, Stephen Milling and Judith Nemeth.

Violeta Urmana, recognized as one of the finest operatic voices of our time, will sing the role of Kundry in the premiere on October 25 and in the performances on October 27, November 4, and November 7. The performance on October 31 will be sung by Judith Németh. Katarina Dalayman, who had been announced as a singer, will not participate in the production due to a viral infection that will keep her off the stage for several weeks on doctor's orders.

Violeta Urmana will make her debut at the Teatro Real in Valencia in an operatic production following her successful participation in the Puccini Tribute concert last February. Kundry is one of the roles that has brought her the most international acclaim. The soprano will return to the Teatro Real in December in the title role of Gluck's Iphigénie en Tauride, alongside Plácido Domingo (Oreste) and Ismael Jordi (Pylade).
