The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía hosts a zarzuela concert today, Friday, April 3, at 8:00 p.m. in the Auditori, which will be directed by maestro Enrique García Asensio.
Soprano Rocío Ignacio, Valencian mezzo-soprano Silvia Tro Santafé, Valencian tenor Antonio Gandía and baritone Juan Jesús Rodríguez will lend their voices to some classics of the quintessential Spanish lyric genre, such as Luisa Fernanda by Moreno Torroba, El barberillo de Lavapiés by Barbieri, Doña Francisquita by Vives, La del soto del Parral by Soutullo and Vert, La Calesera by Alonso, Don Gil de Alcalá by Penella or La Revoltosa by Chapí.
The concert program will also include orchestral excerpts from Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente by Chueca and Soleares by Giménez performed by the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana.
With this concert, the Palau de les Arts continues its commitment to zarzuela, which has always been present in its programming since its inauguration with its own productions of La Bruja and El rey que rabió by Ruperto Chapí or La corte de Faraón by Vicent Lleó, as well as in lyrical concerts with some of the most outstanding voices of this genre.
