Zubin Mehta begins rehearsals for “Götterdämmerung” at the Palau de les Arts

Valencia (11-05-09).- Maestro Zubin Mehta has begun rehearsals today at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía for Götterdämmerung (The Twilight of the Gods), an opera that will inaugurate the second edition of the Festival del Mediterrani on May 30.
Under the title “South of the Rhine,” the Valencian arts center will present two cycles of Richard Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung), this year. It is a co-production with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, directed by La Fura dels Baus. This marks the first time in Spain that an opera house has programmed its own production of the complete Wagnerian ring twice.
