The Palau de les Arts will offer three more performances of Madama Butterfly

Valencia (14-8-09).- The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía has scheduled three more performances of Puccini's famous opera Madama Butterfly, which will feature musical direction by Lorin Maazel and stage direction by filmmaker Mariusz Treliński.
In total, the Palau de les Arts will offer eight performances of this work by Giacomo Puccini, one of the most popular in the Italian operatic repertoire, on the following dates: December 9, 12, 15, 18, 22, 27 and 30 and January 3, 2010.
Ukrainian soprano Oksana Dyka as Cio-Cio-San heads the cast of this production rented from Teatr Wielki, Opera Narodowa, which also includes Marianna Pizzolato as Suzuki, Misha Didyk as Pinkerton and Alfredo Daza as Sharpless.
Regarding the programming for the next season, the Palau de les Arts has decided to cancel the production of Johann Strauss's operetta Die Fledermaus (The Bat) that was scheduled for the end of the year.
