Valencia (31.05.10).- The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía joins the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Isaac Albéniz (Camprodon, 1860 – Cambo-les-Bains, 1909) with an absolutely novel initiative: Albéniz. Iberia x 12.
For the first time, twelve pianists based in the Valencian Community will perform the twelve movements of Iberia, a masterpiece of Spanish piano literature and one of the pinnacles of musical history, on June 2nd and 3rd at the Teatre Martín i Soler as part of the III Festival del Mediterrani. Iberia is considered one of the most complex and demanding works in the piano repertoire.

On the evening of June 2nd, pianists Pablo Martínez, Rubén Sánchez, Claudio Carbó, Xavier Torres, Antonio Galera, and Juan Lago will perform the first six pieces from the first and second books of the suite. On the 3rd, Jordi Nogués, Jorge Giménez, Carlos Apellániz, Ricardo Descalzo, Santiago Casero, and Carles Marín will perform the third and fourth books of Albéniz's score. Each performance will be introduced and discussed by Justo Romero, playwright at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía and biographer of Isaac Albéniz.
