The Palau de les Arts production of Les Troyens makes a successful debut at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw

Valencia (January 15, 2011) – The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía production of Hector Berlioz's Les Troyens , staged by La Fura dels Baus, premiered to great acclaim at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw on Tuesday, January 11. The audience gave the production's creative and artistic team a standing ovation lasting over ten minutes.
The Polish press has received with great interest the premiere of La Fura dels Baus's "avant-garde and futuristic" interpretation of Berlioz's work. The world premiere of this production at the Valencian arts center attracted the attention of newspapers such as The New York Times , Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , and Le Figaro . Gergiev himself, this time leading the Teatr Wielki Orchestra, returned as musical director.
The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will also release Les Troyens on DVD and Blu-ray through the C Major label. Following the market success of the recording of the tetralogy The Ring of the Nibelung , conducted by Zubin Mehta and staged by La Fura dels Baus, the German company recorded the opera in high definition during its performance in Valencia.
The premiere of Les Troyens marked another milestone in the musical history of the Palau de les Arts. For the first time, a Spanish theater performed Hector Berlioz's masterpiece in its entirety.
