Valencia (20-4-12).- The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will host, on April 28, at 7:00 p.m., the concert 'Mil veus per Lorca', to benefit the “Narciso Yepes” Conservatory of the Murcian town.
The Valencian arts center and the Federació de Cors de la Comunitat Valenciana (FECOCOVA) are promoting this solidarity initiative with the students of this center, which was affected by the earthquakes that devastated the Spanish municipality in May 2011.
The concert, in which 30 choirs from the Valencian Community participate, in addition to the “Modus Novus” Chamber Choir from Lorca and the FECOCOVA Choir, seeks to send a message of hope to the artists who, now and in the future, are trained in the classrooms of this conservatory.
For Manuel Pérez, vice president of FECOCOVA, “this is a benefit concert to help our friends in Lorca who, a year after the earthquake, haven't returned to the conservatory. We want to encourage them and let them know we're here to help.” Pérez added, “Choral music is beautiful and fosters a sense of community, serving as a link between two regions, in this case, Valencia and Murcia.” The vice president of the Federation also expressed his gratitude to the Palau de les Arts for their collaboration in this concert and encouraged Valencians to show their support for this cause and, at the same time, discover choral music.
'Mil veus per Lorca' presents a varied program, with popular, contemporary, religious, African, gospel music and will end with the joint performance of the Cor de Cambra Quinzedemarç adaptation of the Second movement of Antonín Dvořák's Ninth Symphony , La pau és el camí and the romance 'Canto a Murcia' by La Parranda de Francisco Alonso.
Tickets for 'Mil veus per Lorca' are priced at a single rate of 10 euros. Those interested can purchase tickets through the usual channels: on the website www.lesarts.com, at the arts center's box office during its regular hours, Monday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; by phone at 961 975 900, operating Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and also through Servicam services.
Likewise, those who wish to collaborate but cannot attend, can make their financial contributions to the Zero Row, in account number 2038-6547-73-6000011369 of Bankia.
