Valencia (14.10.24). The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will inaugurate its 'Lied' cycle next Saturday, October 19, with soprano Asmik Grigorian, the new sensation of the international opera scene, in what will be her first performance in Valencia.

Hailed as the new queen of the prestigious Salzburg Festival, Asmik Grigorian is leading one of the most exciting careers in the current operatic circuit.

Winner of major awards: International Opera Awards, German Echo Klassik Awards, Italian Abbiati Awards or the prestigious Österreichische Musiktheaterpreis, the Lithuanian soprano has been praised by the specialized press for her “unique” interpretations of Salome, Jenufa and Tatyana ('Eugene Onegin').

Her powerful and intense voice, versatility and overwhelming dramatic force make her an essential name for the seasons of the main theaters and auditoriums, as well as being one of the favorite artists of the great stage directors for their new productions such as Romeo Castellucci, Christof Loy, Dmitri Tcherniakov or Claus Guth.

For his debut at Les Arts, Asmik Grigorian proposes a suggestive program devoted to Russian Romanticism, which has earned him unanimous critical and public acclaim in London, Berlin, Munich, Aix-en-Provence, among others, and which will be his calling card this same year at Carnegie Hall.

In his performance in the Main Hall, he will be accompanied by his regular pianist, Lukas Geniušas. Winners of a Gramophone Award for their Sergei Rachmaninoff monograph, 'Dissonance', Grigorian and Geniušas will dedicate their recital to some of the most beautiful passages by the Russian composer and his mentor and teacher, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

'Les Arts és Lied' brings together the leading performers of the genre once again in this new edition. In addition to Grigorian, the cycle also includes the debut of German baritone Michael Volle (March 23, 2025), highly anticipated returns such as those of Simon Keenlyside (November 24, 2024) and Joyce DiDonato (June 5, 2025), and the presentation of Michael Fabiano (December 15, 2024) in his role as a lieder singer.
