Valencia. The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía has today opened the registration period for the largest selection process for vacancies for the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana since its creation.
The arts center is offering fourteen positions in the following specialties: violin, viola, cello, double bass, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, and trombone. Application forms, available exclusively at www.lesarts.com, can be submitted until March 27.
Once the applications have been received, a first selection of resumes will take place, carried out by a committee of musicians from the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana.
Later, in June, the audition process will begin at the Palau de les Arts, continuing until early July. The work schedule allocates two days per available position.
The juries for each instrument will be chaired by the Artistic Director of the Palau de les Arts, Davide Livermore, and composed of professors from the OCV. The audition consists of two phases: a first elimination round and a final round.
The fourteen positions are distributed as follows. For the violin specialty, three assistant soloist positions are offered for first and second violin; for viola, one soloist vacancy and two tutti positions are announced, while for cello, one tutti position and one assistant soloist position for double bass are announced.
In the wind section, there is one position for solo bassoon and another for 3rd-2nd bassoon with contrabassoon, one vacancy for 2nd-4th category tutti horn, one position for 2nd-3rd tutti trumpet and, finally, one position for 2nd tutti trombone and one position for 3rd bass-contrabass trombone.
The Palau de les Arts plans to increase the number of musicians on staff in the OCV, the resident orchestra of the opera house and one of the leading orchestras in Europe, to 67.
