Valencia. Gustavo Gimeno (Valencia, 1976) conducts works by Beethoven and Schubert with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana at the Leopoldo Peñarroja Auditorium in La Vall d'Uixó.

The resident orchestra of the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía will visit the town of La Plana Baixa for the first time on March 15, where this cultural center has recently been inaugurated.

Maestro Gimeno is one of the leading conductors of the 2014-2015 Season. On November 16, 2014, he conducted the second subscription concert and is currently rehearsing his first opera at the Palau de les Arts, Bellini's Norma , which will be presented in a new production by Davide Livermore on March 8 with soprano Mariella Devia in the title role.

For their performance in La Vall d'Uixó, the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana will play Beethoven's Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus and Schubert's Unfinished Symphony in the first half of the evening. Beethoven's Eroica Symphony will close the program.

Also, Maestro Gimeno held a master class this week with advanced orchestral conducting students at the Valencian arts center, the second of the season.

The masterclasses are part of the Didactic Program of the Palau de les Arts which, among other objectives, seeks to bring students closer to the experience and artistic excellence of the teachers who work with the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana.
