Valencia. Javier Camarena makes his debut at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía on April 10 with Rossini's Stabat Mater , the concert that closes the symphonic offering of the 2014-2015 Season at the Auditori.
The Mexican tenor is considered the operatic sensation of the moment after his unprecedented feat at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where, at the audience's request, he repeated the aria 'Si, ritrovarla io giuro' during a performance of Rossini's La Cenerentola . Only Luciano Pavarotti and, more recently, Juan Diego Flórez, have accomplished this feat before the Metropolitan Opera audience in the last 70 years.
The Mexican star, along with Italian soprano Erika Grimaldi, Armenian mezzo-soprano Varduhi Abrahamyan, and Chinese bass Liang Li, forms the solo quartet for this work, Rossini's Stabat Mater .
Erika Grimaldi replaces Maria Agresta in the cast of this concert due to scheduling conflicts. The Italian star also makes her debut at the Palau de les Arts with this work, which she has previously sung in Paris and London with Gianandrea Noseda conducting.
Giacomo Sagripanti takes the helm of the Cor de la Generalitat and the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana for the first time. The 32-year-old maestro is one of the most promising conductors in the Italian repertoire, with work at the Semperoper in Dresden, the Bolshoi in Moscow, La Fenice in Venice, and the Zurich Opera, among others.
He has recently garnered public and critical acclaim for his 'Rossinis' at the Pesaro Festival ( Il barbiere di Siviglia ) and at the Paris Opera ( La Cenerentola ).
