Les Arts puts Pre-season passes on sale with six shows starting from 62 euros
15.06.2016
The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía begins tomorrow, Thursday, June 16, the sale of passes for the shows of the second Pre-season at affordable prices offered by the arts center.
Les Arts is repeating and expanding this initiative, which was so well received last year with an average occupancy rate above 90%. Six shows make up the Pre-Season pass offering, with prices ranging from €62 for the most economical option, aimed at holders of the Carnet Jove (Youth Card) in Zone 3, to €150 for the general public pass in the area with the best view.
The main new feature this year is that the passes, in addition to granting access to the Pre-Season activities, also allow entry to the first performance of the regular opera season at affordable prices. This will be on February 22, 2017, the date of the penultimate performance of Verdi's "La Traviata," with musical direction by Ramón Tebar, stage direction by Sofia Coppola, costumes by Valentino, and a cast of young stars.
Les Arts' second preseason will begin on October 1 with Donizetti's opera "L'elisir d'amore," which will be performed in Damiano Michieletto's acclaimed production set on La Malvarrosa beach, with Keri-Lynn Wilson in the pit, the second woman to conduct opera in the theater's ten-year history.
Prominent performers such as William Davenport, Paolo Bordogna and Mattia Olivieri make up the cast of this work which will be hosted in the Main Hall on the following days: October 1, 4, 7, 9 and 12.
Spanish opera returns with Valencian composer Manuel Penella's production of "El gato montés" (The Wildcat), which Les Arts is staging to commemorate the centenary of its premiere at the Teatro Principal in Valencia. Óliver Díaz, principal conductor of the Teatro de la Zarzuela, will conduct this production, directed by José Carlos Plaza, and featuring leading singers Saioa Hernández, Andeka Gorrotxategi, and Cristina Faus. "El gato montés" will be performed on October 30, November 1, 3, and 5.
The Pre-Season program is complemented by a Vivaldi monograph under the baton of Fabio Biondi, musical director of Les Arts, on October 6 at the Auditori, “Cantúria Cantada”, by Carles Santos, performed by the Cor de la Generalitat, directed by Dolors Ricart on November 10, and an opera gala with the artists of the Centre Plácido Domingo, directed by Ramón Tebar, principal guest conductor of the opera of Valencia, on the 26th of that month.
