Henrik Nánási will conduct the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana on Friday, April 20th, in a Richard Wagner monographic concert at the Auditori, with tickets sold out since last February.

The Hungarian maestro returns to Les Arts with a program consisting of the Overture to 'Tannhäuser', the Prelude and love-death from 'Tristan und Isolde' and the first act of 'Die Walküre' with the voices of soprano Camilla Nylund, tenor Simon O'Neill and bass Matti Salminen.

Les Arts reminds everyone that only 5 percent of the capacity remains available for sale, and tickets can only be purchased at the box office on the day of the concert.

Henrik Nánási (Pécs, 1975) made his debut at Les Arts in November 2014 with a concert-performance based on Béla Bartók's opera 'Bluebeard's Castle'. A year later, the Hungarian conductor opened the subscription season with Verdi's 'Macbeth', starring Plácido Domingo, and in 2017 he premiered Massenet's 'Werther' in a co-production between Les Arts and Monte Carlo.

The current musical director of the Komische Oper Berlin delves into the work of the composer with whom the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana has achieved the greatest international acclaim, thanks to the multi-award-winning production of the tetralogy 'Der Ring des Nibelungen'.

Nánási is one of the most promising young conductors on the continent. A guest conductor at the Verona Arena, the Bavarian State Opera, Covent Garden, the Frankfurt Opera, the Semperoper in Dresden, and the Hamburg State Opera, his repertoire includes works by Tchaikovsky, Donizetti, Dvořák, Mozart, Offenbach, Prokofiev, Puccini, Rossini, Strauss, and Verdi.

Camilla Nylund returns to Les Arts, firmly established among the great dramatic sopranos of the current operatic scene. The audience at the arts center will remember her acclaimed performance in 'Salome' in 2010 under the baton of Zubin Mehta, followed a year later by her appearance at the Bayreuth Festival in 2011 with 'Tannhäuser'.

After singing the role of Sieglinde this past summer at the legendary Richard-Wagner-Festspielhaus on the green hill, she offers at Les Arts a role that has previously been tackled by outstanding Wagnerian divas such as Petra Maria Schnitzer, Eva-Maria Westbroek and Heidi Melton.

For the role of Siegmund, the Les Arts audience will be able to hear for the first time New Zealander Simon O'Neill, praised by international critics as the "Heldentenor of his generation" for his performance of Sieglinde's incestuous twin in 'Die Walküre', in London, New York and Strasbourg.

A regular at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, London's Covent Garden, La Scala in Milan, and at festivals such as Bayreuth, Salzburg, and the BBC Proms, he made his Bayreuth debut in 2010, replacing Jonas Kaufmann in a performance of 'Lohengrin', conducted by Andris Nelsons. A year later, he sang the role of Parsifal in Wagner's opera of the same name with Daniele Gatti conducting.

The trio of soloists is completed by bass Matti Salminen (Hunding), one of the great legends of the repertoire, who replaces Eric Halfvarson, who has cancelled due to illness.

The Finnish performer was part of the cast that premiered Beethoven's 'Fidelio' at Les Arts, the cultural center's inaugural opera in 2006. Salminen also won the first Campoamor Award for best male opera singer for the Valencian theater for his role as Rocco.

An indispensable bass in the Wagnerian circuit, he has sung the most prominent roles the German composer wrote for this vocal range. His appearances in Bayreuth deserve special mention, where he debuted in 1976 in 'The Ring of the Nibelung' conducted by Pierre Boulez in Patrice Chéreau's Centenary production, singing the roles of Fasolt, Fafner, and Hunding.

Salminen has also been part of the cast of Les Arts' most awarded production of 'The Ring of the Nibelung', directed by Zubin Mehta and staged by La Fura dels Baus, in which he has taken on the roles of Hunding, Fasolt and Hagen.
