The Palau de les Arts came here, April 20, with a concert by the Valencian Community Orchestra of Richard Wagner's works conducted by Henrik Nánási.

Tickets for the concert have been sold out since last February. Only 5 percent of the capacity is available for sale, which can only be purchased at the box office on the day of the concert.

The Hungarian maestro returns to Les Arts with a program that includes the overture to 'Tannhäuser', the "Prelude i mort d'amor" from 'Tristan und Isolde' and the first act of 'Die Walküre', with the voices of soprano Camilla Nylund, tenor Simon O'Neill and bass Matti Salminen.

Henrik Nánási (Pécs, 1975) will debut at the Arts in November 2014 with the concert-spectacle al voltant by Béla Bartók and the new opera 'El castell del duc Barbablava'. Sometime later, the Honduran director will inaugurate the season of subscription with 'Macbeth', by Verdi, starring Plácido Domingo, and in 2017 he will premiere 'Werther', by Massenet, in a co-production of Arts i Monte Carlo.

The current musical director of the Komische Oper in Berlin is participating in this concert in which the Valencian Community Orchestra has obtained the greatest recognition on an international scale, thanks to the multi-award-winning production of the tetralogy 'Der Ring des Nibelungen'.

Nánási is one of the most promising young batutes on the continent. Conductor invited to the Verona Arena, Bayerische Staatsoper, Covent Garden, Frankfurt Opera, Dresden Semperoper and Hamburg Staatsoper, his repertoire included works by Txaikovsky, Donizetti, Dvo?ák, Mozart, Offenbach, Prokofiev, Puccini, Rossini, Strauss and Verdi.

Camilla Nylund returns to the Arts, standing among the great dramatic sopranos of the current lyrical scene. The public of the arts center will remember the applauded series 'Salome' in 2010 under the direction of Zubin Mehta, which will soon be followed by the next presentation at the Bayreuth Festival in 2011 with 'Tannhäuser'.

After singing this past performance of Sieglinde's role at the legendary Richard-Wagner-Festspielhaus in Tossal Verd, she offered the Arts a role that has previously been played by prominent Wagnerian artists such as Petra Maria Schnitzer, Eva-Maria Westbroek and Heidi Melton.

For Siegmund's paper, the Arts public will be able to escort for the first time the New Zealander Simon O'Neill, praised by international critics as the “Heldentenor of the next generation” for his new interpretation of Sieglinde's incestuous kiss in 'Die Walküre', to London, New York and Strasbourg.

Regular presence at the Metropolitan in New York, Covent Garden in London, La Scala de Milà and at festivals such as Bayreuth, Salzburg and the BBC Proms, he will debut in Bayreuth in 2010, replacing Jonas Kaufmann in one of the performances of 'Lohengrin', under the baton of Andris Nelsons. Soon after, he will take on the role of Parsifal in Wagner's eponymous opera with Daniele Gatti on the podium.

The shortlist of soloists includes the bassist Matti Salminen (Hunding), one of the great achievements of the repertoire, who is replaced by Eric Halfvarson, who has canceled due to illness.

The Finnish performer will participate in the cast that will premiere at the Arts 'Fidelio', by Beethoven, the inaugural opera of the cultural center in 2006. Salminen will also win the first Campoamor Award for the best male opera singer for the Valencian theater for his role by Rocco.

An essential part of the Wagnerian circuit, he has sung the most notable papers that the German composer has written for this work. Special mention should be made of his later forays into Bayreuth, where he made his debut in 1976 in 'L'anell del Nibelung' directed by Pierre Boulez in the centenary production of the work, by Patrice Chéreau, playing Fasolt, Fafner and Hunding.

Salminen has also been part of the cast of the most guarded production of the Arts of 'L'anell del Nibelung', directed by Zubin Mehta and staged in La Fura dels Baus, in which he has addressed the papers of Hunding, Fasolt and Hagen.
