25.04.2018

The artists of the Centre Plácido Domingo will inaugurate next Saturday, April 28, at 7:00 p.m., the first of their events within the 'Lied' cycle that they offer this season at the Teatre Martín i Soler.

The singers of the ninth promotion of this project, based at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, offer a monograph of songs by Spanish composers.

Accompanied on the piano by Alejandro Zabala, one of the leading experts in this repertoire, the young artists perform pieces by Manuel de Falla, Antón García Abril, Eduard Toldrà, Joaquín Turina, Joaquín Rodrigo and Ernesto Halftter.

Les Arts, in this regard, expresses its gratitude to Maestro Antón García Abril for the free transfer of his vocal work for this show and for its subsequent use in the educational work of the Centre Plácido Domingo.

The veteran composer from Teruel, winner of the National Music Prize, has cultivated a very wide repertoire throughout his career: opera, ballets, cantatas, orchestral works, chamber music, concertos, songs, works for piano, guitar…

García Abril is also one of Spain's leading composers of film scores for theater, film, and television. A recipient of the Gold Medal from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, he was honored by film professionals at the 2017 Goya Awards ceremony.

Tickets for the Lied cycle at the Centre Plácido Domingo are priced at a single rate of 15 euros. The next session will take place on June 10, with Roger Vignoles as the repertoire master.
