The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía announces that Nimrod David Pfeffer (Tel Aviv, 1984) will conduct the semi-staged version of Mozart's 'La clemenza di Tito', the last of the operatic titles of the 2017-2018 Season.
The rising Israeli maestro and pianist will lead the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana in the two performances of this title that will be held at the Auditori on June 24 and 28, with a cast made up of René Barbera, Eva Mei, Margarita Gritskova, Karen Gardeazabal, Nozomi Kato and Andrea Pellegrini.
Nimrod David Pfeffer is currently assistant conductor of the Metropolitan Opera in New York and music director of the Guatemala Lyric Opera since 2016. He holds a Master's degree in orchestral conducting from the Juilliard School in New York, where, thanks to a Bruno Walter scholarship, he studied under Alan Gilbert, conductor of the New York Philharmonic.
In 2014, the young musician made his debut leading the Metropolitan Orchestra, sharing the podium with its principal conductor James Levine, for whom he later served as substitute conductor at the same Met for Mozart's 'Die Entführung aus dem Serail'.
In addition, the Israeli conductor has served as assistant conductor for the resident companies of the New York opera in productions such as 'Guillaume Tell', 'L'italiana in Algeri', 'Aida', 'Idomeneo', 'Eugene Onegin', 'Der Fliegende Holländer', 'Otello', 'Tannhäuser', 'Un ballo in maschera', 'La Bohème', 'Les contes d'Hoffmann' or 'Die Zauberflöte'.
Last February he conducted for the first time at the Israel Opera with a new production of 'Don Giovanni' staged by Kasper Holten and is scheduled to return next season for 'Simon Boccanegra'.
