The co-production of the Palau de les Arts amb l 'Roma Opera of 'La damnation de Faust', by Berlioz, has been designated best show of 2017 by Italian musical critics.

The committee of the XXXVII edition of the Franco Abbiati Prizes, awarded by the National Association of Italian Critics, will award in April the award to Damiano Michieletto, with the musical direction of Daniele Gatti, as the winner of this award.

The Franco Abbiati awards are considered one of the most prestigious awards in the field of European poetry. Established in 1981, the guards currently have the support of the Ministry of Culture and the patronage of the Presidency of the Italian Republic. His jury is integrated with the most influential musical journalists of the transalpine country.

This is the second occasion in which an Arts production accesses these mentions. In 2007, the production of Wagner's 'L'anell del Nibelung', both staged in La Fura dels Baus and coproduced by the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, won the award for best scenery, costumes and video.

'The damnation of Faust' is the last stage title of the 2017-2018 season that Arts will premiere on June 20. Roberto Abbado, after the last performances of 'Lucia di Lammermoor' at the Metropolitan of New York, returns to the podium of the Main Hall of the Valencian opera.

The head of the Valencian Community Orchestra conducts a group of prominent national performers: the Canarian tenor Celso Albelo (Faust), the Burgos bassist Rubén Amoretti (Méphistophélès) and the Valencian mezzo-soprano Silvia Tro Santafé (Marguerite). The Valencian Opera Theater has scheduled three performances of this symphonic-theatrical work on June 23, 26 and 29, before July 1.
