23.05.2018
On May 25, Roberto Abbado will conduct Gustav Mahler's 'Setena' symphony with the Valencian Community Orchestra (OCV) at the Auditori of the Palau de les Arts.
The Milanese master, chief conductor of the OCV, returns to Valencia after almost three months to the Metropolitan of New York, offering some celebrated performances of the opera 'Lucia di Lammermoor', by Donizetti, with the first performances of bel canto: Olga Peretyatko-Mariotti, Jessica Pratt and Pretty Yende.
The main line-up of the Arts performed with Abbado Mahler's symphonic repertoire. Zubin Mehta will be the one who will start the cycle in 2007 with the song 'Segona', related to “Resurrecció”, and soon after Lorin Maazel will sing the fourth symphony of the Txec-Austrian composer at the auditorium of Castelló.
In June 2011, the OCV, with Zubin Mehta as musical director, will travel to Granada to inaugurate the LX International Festival of Music and Dance with the 'Tercera' and Omer Meir Wellber will select in 2013 the 'Novena' for the cycle of concerts with which it will be hosted by the Orchestra of the Valencian Community.
Així mateix, in June 2017, Asher Fisch will conduct the 'Simfonia Tità' for the debut of the OCV at the Palau de la Música in Valencia.
Mahler's 'Setena simfonia' is, traditionally, the most popular and most performed work in his catalogue. However, the piece has regained public interest thanks to great directors such as Leonard Bernstein, Rafael Kubelik, Claudio Abbado, Klaus Tennstedt and George Solti.
Premiered in Prague in 1908, the 'Setena' consists of four movements and is made up of the participation of the audience, just like the two that preceded it. Mahler, moreover, will use various unconventional instruments in an orchestra, such as the guitar or the mandolin.
Les Arts informs that the ticket prices for this concert range between 30 and 45 euros depending on the visibility of the various areas of the Auditori.
Master Abbado will be, for the third consecutive year, the protagonist of the season's competition. In addition to Mahler's 'Setena', the Milanese conductor will pose as the conductor of the Orquestra de les Arts for the concert of the legendary soprano Mariella Devia.
'The damnation of Faust', by Berlioz, recently named best show in Italy, will also be shared by Roberto Abbado in the fossa.
