26.06.2018

The artists of the Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo will make their debut on Wednesday, June 27, at the Serenates festival, organized by the Universitat de València and the Institut Valencià de Cultura, with a lyrical gala in the cloister of the Centre Cultural La Nau at 10:30 p.m.

Soprano Elena Schirru, mezzo-soprano Olga Syniakova, tenor Matheus Pompeu and baritone César Méndez, accompanied on the piano by Husan Park, offer fragments of some of the most celebrated operas in the repertoire: 'Rigoletto', by Verdi; 'Carmen', by Bizet, 'Così fan tutte', by Mozart, or 'L'elisir d'amore', by Donizetti.

The performance also includes a tribute to Matilde Salvador from Castellón, as part of the commemorations of the centenary of her birth, with four of the songs that make up the cycle 'Els asfòdels', based on the poems of Rafael Caria.

The proceeds from the concert will go to the Valencian Association of Parents of People with Autism (APNAV). Tickets, priced at €3, can be purchased at: http://www.latenda.es/entrades.

The Plácido Domingo Centre is one of three training centers for young opera singers that Plácido Domingo himself has established worldwide. Based at the Palau de les Arts, each year artists from around the globe travel to Valencia to participate in the selection process.

The singers combine their musical training with master classes taught by the most outstanding figures in the operatic scene, along with important practical work, which includes, in addition to their own concerts and shows, participation in the major productions of Les Arts.

Throughout its history, the Serenates festival has been a resounding success and has seen increasing collaborations: the Valencia City Council, the Valencia Provincial Council, the Banco Sabadell Foundation, the Palau de la Música, the EASD (School of Art and Design) and the Palau de les Arts de València, which has joined in this edition.
