Valencia (10.06.25). 'Les Arts Volant' will launch its ninth tour of the Valencian Community on June 19 in Puçol, offering 24 performances of the opera 'La Ventafocs', thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment; the Culture Area of the Provincial Council of Valencia and the Department of Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources of the City Council of Valencia.
The regional secretary of Culture, Pilar Tébar; the deputy for Culture of the Provincial Council of Valencia, Francisco Teruel; the councilor for Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources of the City Council of Valencia, José Luis Moreno; and the artistic director of Les Arts, Jesús Iglesias Noriega, presented this new edition of the traveling opera company created by the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía at a press conference today.
During the months of June, July, September and October, Les Arts will perform in the different squares of the three provinces this fun and hilarious adaptation to Valencian of the opera 'Cendrillon' ('Cinderella'), by Pauline Viardot in what will be the third and final tour of this production on the truck-stage of the Valencian opera house.
Joan Font, director and founder of Comediants, signs an agile and fresh staging of Viardot's opera, performed by young Valencian artists together with singers and pianists from the Centre de Perfeccionament de Les Arts.
The production, made with the same artistic standards as any performance in the theater, reproduces without cuts or modifications the same staging that, in its premiere at the Teatre Martín i Soler, enjoyed an unbeatable reception from the public and critics in 2023.
The purpose of Les Arts Volant is to bring opera to places with little musical activity or where it would be difficult to carry out a performance of this kind due to a lack of the necessary resources.
In this regard, Pilar Tébar highlighted music as one of the fundamental pillars in the cultural policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Universities and Employment, both in carrying out support actions and in dissemination.
“Hence the support of the Generalitat to extend the route of the stage truck for another year to the municipalities of the provinces of Castellón (Alcalà de Xivert and Moncofa,) and Alicante (Monóvar, Muro de Alcoy, Benidorm and Villena) within a structuring vision of culture and a new autonomous vision of the programming and activity of Les Arts,” the regional secretary of Culture pointed out.
For his part, the Deputy for Culture of the Provincial Council of Valencia, Francisco Teruel, highlighted “the municipal focus of this project, as it brings operatic culture closer to Valencian municipalities, especially the smaller ones” and added that “of the 12 municipalities in the province of Valencia that will host this performance, nine have fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, that is, 75% of the total, which reflects the sensitivity towards those towns that have fewer resources to host this type of performance.”
Similarly, the head of the Culture department of the provincial institution highlighted that "there is a significant presence in all the Valencian regions" while inviting all citizens to "enjoy this opera in Valencian in any of the municipalities hosting this performance which, due to its artistic quality and staging, will not leave anyone indifferent."
Likewise, the Councillor for Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources in the City of Valencia, José Luis Moreno, pointed out that the City Council “celebrates, once again, the arrival of Les Arts Volant to our city, within the framework of the municipal campaign 'Culture in the neighborhoods'. We are proud that Valencia is once again part of this ambitious project that decentralizes culture and guarantees universal access to the performing arts for all citizens, transforming our neighborhoods into open-air opera stages.”
“In this regard, we would like to thank Les Arts and the other administrations involved for their willingness to make this tour an example of cooperation and shared cultural success,” he added.
The Les Arts Volant 2025 tour begins on June 19 in Puçol and includes 11 more performances in the province of Valencia, organized by the Provincial Council: Anna (June 25), Gavarda (June 28), Ráfol de Salem (June 29), Cheste (July 2), Canals (July 5), Bugarra (July 6), Sagunt (July 9), Casas Bajas (July 10), Beneixida (July 12), Piles (June 13) and Paiporta (July 19).
The Generalitat, for its part, gives the circuit an autonomous dimension by extending the representations to the regions of Castellón: Alcalà de Xivert (June 26) and Moncofa (July 16), and Alicante: Muro de Alcoy (June 20), Villena (July 3), Benidorm (July 17) and Monóvar (July 20).
The Les Arts traveling opera company also includes stops in the city of Valencia in its itinerary, with six performances in different neighborhoods organized by the City Council, scheduled for after the summer on September 26, 27 and 28 and October 3, 4 and 5.
